Funny Ads for Inspiration

In many settings advertisements tend to be ignored or overlooked. When flipping through a magazine you probably skip past the ads unless something really catches your attention. The same thing applies when it comes to driving by billboards, browsing online, or interacting anywhere else where ads appear.

One approach for ad designers to capture the attention and interest of viewers is to use humor. Most of us will stop and pay attention to ads if they grab our attention and make us laugh.

In this post we’ll showcase 30 examples of advertisements that user humor to make an impact on viewers.

Breathtaking Animation Highlights The Plight Of The Honey Bee

Greenpeace’s fake ad aims to help raise awareness of the growing disappearance of honey bees.

Continually exposed to various threats, including parasites and pesticides, the future of the honey bee currently looks a little grim. Aware of the impact the extinction of these little insects would have on humans and the environment, Greenpeace recently commissioned the teams at Polynoid and Woodblock to create a fake commercial, highlighting the plight of the disappearing honey bee.

The result is this beautifully produced two-and-a-half-minute spot, which introduces audiences to a robotic bee before explaining why these eradicate the need for the real thing. It ends with Greenpeace asking if we want to create a new world or save the one we already have.

The CG and animation is nothing short of brilliant in this piece. Look out for the arrival of a real bee, the detail and photorealism of which, in particular, is incredible. A wonderful concept, beautifully executed.

3D Ice Cubes

Novelty-shaped ice cubes are nothing new, but it’s safe to say that you’ve never seen them as impressive as this before. 3D on the Rocks is the latest ad campaign for Japanese liquor company Suntory, a brand who specializes in whiskey. They collaborated with advertising agency TBWA\Hakuhodo to create the world’s first 3D-milled ice cubes. The tiny, intricate sculptures are cool, this time both literally and figuratively.

Each creation is the result of a time-consuming modeling process completed by a precision drill that carves the minute details into ice. Their beauty is fleeting, unfortunately, because after all of the careful work they were placed in a glass for immediate enjoyment.

Some of the campaign’s designs included a great white shark, an astronaut, the Statue of Liberty, and Michaelango’s David. Ideas were submitted by the public, and a few lucky participants had their work produced. The winners were invited to a secret bar in Tokyo where they partook of Suntory whiskey with some very special “rocks.”

Creative & Bizarre Packaging Design

One of the things that identifies the image of a product is its packaging. Few elements like striking graphics, attractive colors, and unusual shapes are carefully thought of to come up with packaging design that catches the attention of the consumers.

A packaging design is a critical component in marketing because it is the packaging that makes it stand from the rest when consumers choose a product from the shelf. We usually see the packaging first instead of an innovative product.

This post presents the clever and innovative ideas of some of the company manufacturers around the world.

Unexpected Products Extension

Famous brands are recognized for their flagship products, but would their brand shine on other products? Like if Crocs actually developed an umbrella. Would it be legit? I guess not. Realizing how fun and crazy the idea could be, Ilya Kalimulin and other designers used their skills and creativity to photoshop unexpected, somehow ironic products from well-known brands, and they’re showcased in this post. Have fun and let us know which one made you smile!

30 Hilarious Brand Slogans

Logos and relative payoffs are a crucial part of branding. These symbols contain the soul and the essence of companies, that through slogans explain their philosophy.

But as we all know, companies often “lie”, communicating a message slightly different from reality.
What’d happen if companies used payoff that actually reflects reality?

The blog Honest Slogans is a fun container of all these honest pieces of marketing, and some of them are totally hilarious. We collected the ones that we considered as the most interesting in the following list. As usual, if you have any idea about a honest slogan, write it in the comments!
