The Tea Calendar

The Hälssen & Lyon tea calendar developed by the Hamburg based creative agency Kolle Rebbe, is the first calendar in the world to feature calendar days made from tea leaves. Finely flavored and thinly pressed thanks to an innovative new production process, the 365 calendar days can be individually detached and brewed directly in the cup with hot water. It all started with the idea to merge the traditional product tea with one of the world’s oldest promotional gifts, the calendar. And it led to the creation of a unique annual calendar – made of real tea. Check out the video below.

Design: Time-Killing ‘Chrono Shredder’

Created by Susanna Hetrich, the simple red box shreds each day’s calendar page as it passes, and leaves the tangled paper strands to curl, bunch and pile up on the floor in a messy heap. Chrono-Shredder (2007-2012, various iterations) celebrates remorse for the lost moment. It is a poetic machine with functions similar to those of a calendar and a clock: The device continuously shreds every single day, minute after minute, hour after hour. A pulse is given every 3 minutes, after 24 hours a complete day has been destroyed. Continuously, the tattered remains of the past pile up under the device as time passes by.
